You can feel summer is coming soon!

May 23, 2012

There is also an energy going through Vernon right now that bodes really well for the upcoming season.  On the May long weekend, we were pleased to welcome the 33rd annual Old Timer’s Soccer tournament.  Over 50 teams participated so the community was busy.  Was a tourist in my own town this past weekend with visits to Planet Bee (couldn’t resist the maple flavoured honey), Davison Orchards (wonderful strawberry/rhubarb pie) and Okanagan Spirits (cherry was my friend’s favourite, mine is still the raspberry).

Went to the Farmer’s Market on the holiday Monday and it was busy too.  Seems like we were all anxious to get our hands on fresh produce like carrots, radishes, fresh basil and salad greens.  Lots of variety of perennial and veggie plants for sale too.  Farmer’s markets now take place 3 times a week and each week more and more vendors will be there offering the bounty of their fields and kitchens.

Getting prepared for all the events that will be taking place in June including Creative Chaos June 1 -3, the IGSA Downhill race on Middleton Mtn June 9 – 10, Downtown Sunshine Festival on June 16, Wings ‘n Wheels will be at the airport on June 17 and then there will be a series of  StandUp Paddleboard (SUP) events June 19 – 22.  YAY Summer!
