The Full Frontal Improv troupe performs on the first Wednesday of every month at The Hub Arts Collective. Ultra Run – an ultra run is 50km plus so this is the first of the Dirty Feet ultras in Vernon BC!
This run is located at Kalamalka Provincial Park and will be quite different to the half marathon course in July. The race will include an 8km, 25km and 50km. There will be a 25km loop that the 50km runner will do twice.

Alexis Park School and W.L. Seaton Secondary Choir will be singing, ISS - Is Somebody Singing, written by astronaut Chris Hadfield and Ed Robertson, of the Barenaked Ladies, Monday at 10 am at Wesbild Centre. The students are performing the song simultaneously with schools and communities and communities across Canada "to fill the skies with music" and raise awareness of the importance of music education in schools.

The Vernon Film Society presents the Australian film The Sapphires, starring Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids, The IT Crowd) about an aboriginal girl group who perform for US troupes during the Vietnam War. Tickets $7 each, available one week in advance at the Towne Theatre and the Bean Scene.

They cannot appraise jewelry, coins, stamps, guns, and wristwatches but swords and pocketwatches are welcome. Individuals who wish to have large furniture pieces assessed are asked to bring in a portion of the piece, such as a drawer, along with a photograph, and the item’s measurements.

Fresh, local asparagus is just one of the delights available on Sunday as Caravan Farm Theatre presents its first market day of the season. Highlights include teamsters Joyce Marchant driving her team of Belgians and Mahina Rose driving her Norwegian Fjords as they plow the Caravan garden in preparation for planting. For kids, there will be the Mostly Minis petting zoo, alpacas, face painting and wagon rides. There are lots of treats in store for moms, with plants, pottery, soaps, jewelry and massage on offer. Arrive hungry, as there will be great food to eat, from Indian cuisine to waffles and homemade bread.

The Fintry Spring Fair, the first event of the season, will celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12 with something for every member of the family. In collaboration with the Westside Fire Fighters, the Fair will be open from 10am to 4pm on the grounds of the Manor House. Booths will be set up on the front lawn showcasing plants, gardening know-how, and arts and crafts. The Fire Fighters will bring their heavy equipment and invite local car clubs to bring their beautiful antique cars down to the grounds. Local musicians will play from the Veranda, and children of all ages will be invited to play games on the Front Lawn.

A BBQ lunch will be available from 12 noon to 1:30pm. Admission to the grounds and tours of Manor House and Barns will be by donation.

A chance for kids, ages 5 to 8 to get their hands dirty and see what farming is all about! Learn about plants and seeds, work in the field and greenhouse, spend time with the farm animals and play in the Crazy Cow Kids Corral! The day will also include a tour around the farm on the Johnny Popper Train. Kids will work with real farmers to learn all about farming at Davison Orchards. Vancouver stalwart CHILLIWACK has its roots as the house band of the Torch Cabaret back in '66. Evolving shifts in style and personnel resulted in the emergence of the band we know and love. Through it all, the driving force remains Bill Henderson. From the release of their first single "Looking at a Baby" which quickly rose to number three in Canada to the twenty minute major opus "What Love: Suite" - a huge cult classic - onward to "Raino", "Lonesome Mary", "Crazy Talk", "Fly at Night", "Baby Blue", "California Girl", "Communication Breakdown", "My Girl (Gone Gone Gone)", and "Whatcha Gonna Do" this iconic Canadian label has produced 31 hit singles, 16 of them Top 40.

As The Collectors they composed and performed music for George Ryga's play Grass and Wild Strawberries, for the NFB's Don't Let Angels Fall, and for a multi-media presentation at the Canadian pavilion at Expo 70 in Osaka, Japan. Henderson, along with previous member Brian MacLeod took home a Juno Award for Best Producer (1982). Rolling Stone Magazine wrote, "At their best, Chilliwack was the finest Canadian rock band, out-rocking BTO and out-writing Burton Cummings."

The season opener includes recreational and competitive races and relays for both newbies and experienced paddlers along a spectator-friendly course between Kal Beach and Bishops Bird Sanctuary. In an effort to involve kids and youth, this year’s schedule now includes shorter distance races for Groms (Ages 13 & Under) and Junior (14-18yrs) making the event fun for the entire family. For those looking to develop new skills and hone their technique, Kalavida is also hosting a SUP Skills Clinic prior to the race and for the general public, there are free demos in the afternoon – A great chance to try out the sport for the first time and learn about the boards and equipment. The Sadok Ukrainian Dance Ensemble is celebrating their 13th Anniversary Dance performance at the Vernon Performing Arts Theatre, Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 2:00pm. Special guests at this year's Okanagan Ukrainian Festival will be the Dolyna Ukrainian Dancers of Kelowna.

The Sadok Ukrainian Dance Ensemble is a dance theatre troupe that continually pushes the boundaries of this art form by entertaining and educating their audience about their Ukrainian Canadian Heritage. They have performed throughout the Okanagan Valley, Vancouver, Alberta and Los Angeles, California. In March of 2008 they performed at Disneyland, California where they shared their culture with the world. This excitingly vibrant and colourful dance is always enjoyed by audiences of both Ukrainians and non-Ukrainians alike!
