  • Falkland Stampede

    Get ready for a bronc-busting good time.
    The 94th annual Falkland Stampede bursts out of the gate Saturday, with the action continuing until Victoria Day Monday.
    Rodeo action begins at 1 p.m. at the Highway 97 stampede grounds, while it starts at 2 p.m. Sunday.

    On Monday, there is a heavy horse pull at 10 a.m. and the rodeo at 1 p.m.
    There will also be a kids’ calf scramble all three days and a cowboy church at 11 a.m. Sunday.
    Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and children under six are free. An adult three-day pass is $40 while a family-day pass is $45.

  • Kalavida hosts Recreational Race and Clinic on Kal Beach

      10:00 am to 3:00 pm
    The season opener includes recreational and competitive races for both newbies and experienced paddlers along a spectator-friendly course between Kal Beach and Bishops Bird Sanctuary. In an effort to involve kids and youth, this year’s schedule now includes shorter distance races for Groms (Ages 13 & Under) and Junior (14-18yrs) making the event fun for the entire family. For those looking to develop new skills and hone their technique, Kalavida is also hosting a SUP Skills Clinic prior to the race and for the general public, there are free demos throughout the day – A great chance to try out the sport for the first time and learn about the boards and equipment. It’s a family affair.

  • Polson Park Concert

    A group of young musicians are playing for a special cause in a concert planned for Polson Park. Local band Amistad, who won best stage performance at this year’s Our Kids Have Talent musical competition, is hosting the concert to raise money for the Jessica Eaman Scholarship Fund. Amistad, which also features Nolan Bassett (bass, vocals), Carson Bassett (drums), Brent Matterson (lead guitar), and Craig Matterson (guitar, keyboard, vocals), will be joined by fellow bands The Fro Bros. and Better Than Average.

    The event starts at 2 p.m. in the Polson Park bandshell. Admission is free, however, donations for the scholarship fund and food items for the food bank will be accepted.
