This gorgeous lake house highlights the type of homes built by those who settled in the area in the early 1900s. Mackie Lake House was built on five acres overlooking Kalamalka Lake in 1910. Today it is an exceptional example of the type of country mansion from this time period. The moment you step into the home, you are transported back to a simpler time when life moved at a slower pace.
The house was designed for businessman Ronald C. Buchanan by Montreal architect Robert Findlay. It combines arts and crafts elements with a stately Chateau-style roof. The interior workmanship makes it one of the best examples of grand house architecture in British Columbia's interior.
Today you can visit Mackie Lake House and even rent out parts of it for events and weddings. There are several "teas" held throughout the year including Teddy Bear teas and Christmas teas.
Mackie house takes visitors by reservation only. To check out their events, please visit the Mackie Lake House website.
