The Greater Vernon Museum and Archives harkens back to the early to mid 1900s. Three men, Charles Edward Haines, David Howrie Sr. and William Pound were responsible for starting what you see today.
After several changes, the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives now occupies over 1115 m2 (12,000 sq. ft.) of space and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The museum is well known for its events and exhibits.

The Archives at the Vernon Museum is one of the most respected research facilities in the province. Over 700 research inquiries are made each year.
