Look for: native shrubs including aspen, hawthorn, Saskatoon, wild roses, chokecherries and snowberries, which a multitude of birds enjoy. Wild sunflowers, lupines and wild roses add spring colour while Cottonwood buds fill the air.
The last section north past Rugg Road has the most interesting remains of the old canal with sheet metal flumes suspended by wood trestles. To the east, across Silver Star Rd, is a connecting trail that takes you to the bottom of the BX Creek Trail or you can stay on the Grey Canal system that crosses the creek and goes up into the north BX area.
The Greater Vernon Water Services Engineering Department has another excellent site describing the Grey Canal's history.
