It's springtime and life is blooming here! It's the perfect time of year to vacation in Vernon.
Take a weekend orchard tour at Davison Orchards and experience all the different types of blooms that will soon become tasty, mouth-watering fruits. After a day in the orchard, catch an outdoor spring show at Caravan Farm Theatre in Armstrong.
Grab your bike, friends, and family, and head off to explore our grassland and lake trails. Take a casual cycle through Ellison Provincial Park or Kalamalka Provincial Park and enjoy the sweet smells of spring. Hiking is a great way to see the natural wonders in and around Vernon. Take a city trail that follows the route of the historical Grey Canal irrigation channel, or walk the cedar-lined trails of the riparian zone that borders BX Creek and Falls Trail. Hear the roar of the water as it rushes down from the mountains during spring thaw. For a leisurely stroll with scenic views, explore the Grey Canal Trail or Okanagan Rail Trail. Bird watchers are encouraged to visit the trails around Swan Lake to find an array of species returning to their spring nesting grounds.
Spring comes early here, which means it's time to pack the clubs and get out on the golf course. The Vernon area has five golf courses ranging from a quick nine-hole to a 36-hole championship course. Each of our courses is as distinct and attractive as the terrain they were built on.
Spring also means the Farmers' Market moves outdoors at Kal Tire Place on Mondays and Thursdays. It's the perfect place to get your fresh spring fruits and veggies as well as check out our local food trucks. You can also stroll Vernon's downtown core to explore local shops, cafes and restaurants.
Taste local libations made from locally-grown ingredients, including mead from Planet Bee Honey Farm & Honeymoon Meadery, cidery from a third-generation apple orchard at Cambium Cider Co., craft beer at Marten Brewing Co. and a variety of tasting options at Okanagan Spirits.
For some indoor activity, head over to the Centre Gallery of the Vernon Community Arts Centre where you can discover the artwork of emerging and established artists of all skill levels, as well as taking an art class. We also have live theatre, with over 12 venues and performance spaces, including events at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre.
Whatever you choose to do, we know you're going to love your spring vacation in Vernon.
