Coil Building Basics Workshop

Pre-requisite: Intended for VCAC clay studio members who have completed a 6 or 8 week beginner class.  All participants must be 17 years or older. 

Step away from templates and start getting lost in the rhythm of rolling and pinching clay. In this skill exploration class, come learn how to make strong consistent coils and how to build them up to create organic rhythmic forms. Build an organic vessel from the bottom up without any supports or structures.

Note: Glazing is not included in this workshop. Qualified clay studio members can glaze their pieces during drop-in glaze sessions, while non-members can take their green or bisque-fired work and glaze at their regular studios.

Students should bring clay, tools, clear plastic to cover their work. Clay must be purchased at the VCAC.
