Fido-friendly trails
Sometimes your favourite hiking buddy is the one who can’t chat your ear off the whole way. If you like to take your four-legged sidekick adventuring on the trails, make sure you’re heading to the ones that allow dogs.

The Grey Canal Trail System
The Grey Canal Trail System in Greater Vernon follows the route of the historic Grey Canal, once a 50 km irrigation channel built between 1906 and 1914. At its peak, the canal supported the largest irrigation district in BC, supplying water to over 20,000 acres of orchards and farmland until 1970. Today, the eight trail sections showcase diverse landscapes, panoramic views, and remnants of the original ditches, siphons, and flumes. Interpretive signs with archival photos highlight the canal’s history, while the mostly level trails welcome walking, biking, hiking, and snowshoeing.
