There are several ways to get your live theatre fix in the Vernon area. Choose from the Vernon Community Theatre, the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre and for theatre under the stars, the Caravan Farm Theatre is a short drive away in Armstrong.
The story of the Powerhouse Theatre is one with a very happy ending. It was once an abandoned, ivy-covered building. Then a group of talented, hard working volunteers turned what is now Vernon's Community Theatre into an award winning venue. Back in 1962, the warehouse and former Vernon electrical power house, was about to be torn down. The Vernon Little Theatre group needed a permanent home, and the rest, as they say, is history. Over the past 50 years it has hosted countless quality shows to near sell-out audiences. You can read more about their history here. Check out their shows for the current season.
Built in 2001, the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre is one of the best entertainment venues in the valley. Comfortable seats and a Meyer Mina digital sound system make this venue the perfect place to see live theatre. Visitors and locals comment that it is one of finest theatres they have ever attended. We encourage you to come and see for yourself! For information on upcoming shows, visit their website.
