Pickleball is a paddle sport played with a whiffle ball on a badminton-sized court and a tennis-style net. There is a non-volley (kitchen) zone that bans volleys close to the net. The serving team cannot volley the return of serve.
Pickleball started back in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, in Washington State. Some kids were bored and their parents decided to create a game that was challenging. They gave the kids table tennis paddles and a whiffle ball. Then they lowered the net on the badminton court. The rest, as they say, is history. In 1971 Pickleball was officially incorporated and today it is played all over the world. You can find all the equipment you need at the Pickleball Depot in Vernon.
