Bring your binoculars on this nature filled hike. Strolling along the valley bottom you are surrounded by 360° of expansive prairie-style blue sky, a quiet lake and some of the best bird watching in BC.
Look for: Swan Lake is a breeding, nesting and migration haven for ducks, waterfowl and marsh birds. American White Pelicans and Trumpeter Swans still migrate through each spring and fall.
Rolling grasslands rise up from the wetlands creating rich habitat for even more wildlife including amphibians, reptiles and small mammals. Many raptors (birds of prey) hunt here year round.
Great Blue Herons, which nest in the last remaining cluster of large cottonwoods standing in Vernon's commercial area, hunt for snakes, frogs, fish and insects.
