When you think summer, think Vernon! Beaches, lakes, outdoor adventure, mountains, fishing, orchards pregnant with fruit, fresh vegetables, and farmers' markets galore! This is Vernon in the summer.
There are over 20 beaches where you can soak up the sun and have some water fun. There's even a beach for pets at Kalamalka Provincial Park and Ellison Provincial Park.
Keep cool as you have fun on the water wake boarding, water skiing, knee boarding, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkelling. You can rent boats and equipment or hire someone to teach and guide you.
Head up to SilverStar where you'll find one of BC's best mountain bike parks with trails ranging from novice to expert. While there, be sure to take the Summit Gondola Chair ride so you can enjoy a bird's eye view of the beauty of our mountains.
Take a tour of a working farm and discover acres of fresh produce, fresh baked goods, apple juice and more at Davison Orchards. Visit the farm animals and take a tour on the Johnny Popper apple train.
Mondays and Thursdays, be sure to explore Vernon Farmers' Market. Over 100 growers and artisans offer up fresh picked fruit, preserves, gourmet food, vegetables, eggs, dairy products, meats, seafood, crafts, art, plants, flowers, gifts and baking. Meet the locals and be entertained by the buskers on special event Mondays.
Pack a picnic lunch, or get one made for you and get out there and explore our history. Take your time and explore our valley on our hiking and biking trails. Head up to the Allan Brooks Nature Centre and learn about the flora and fauna of our area.
