We know you love to take vacations with your four-legged fur pals. Vernon is a very dog friendly city and we have several places where you, and your best friend, can explore and relax. All dogs visiting and living in the City of Vernon must be licensed.
Travelling with your pet doesn’t have to be a struggle. Vernon has over a dozen places where both you and your pet are welcome. Many of these pet-friendly hotels and motels are steps away from green spaces. Most of our provincial parks and campgrounds are also pet friendly. Call ahead to ensure they can accommodate your pet.
Vernon has several parks and beaches where pets are more than welcome. Many of our parks are located along hike and bike trails, making them the perfect place to start or finish off your day outdoors. Please ensure you know the rules before you head out. Some parks and beaches require dogs to be on a leash, while others are off leash.
The beaches around Vernon are a great place to cool off in the summer, and explore during winter, fall and spring. Splash about in the water, relax on the beach and hike the surrounding area. For a map of Vernon and area beaches visit the City of Vernon Beach page. Remember, there are rattle snakes in the Okanagan, so ensure your dog is near you at all times.
Our trails are also a great place to explore with your pet. As these trails are multi-use for hiking and biking, you must keep your pet on a leash unless you are in an off-leash park.

Vernon has several cafés and restaurants with outdoor patios so you can keep an eye on your pooch while you grab a beverage and a bite to eat. In the warmer months, there are also food trucks where you can grab a bite and continue on your day with your furry buddy.
