At this free Valley Voices event, join us for a writing workshop and reading with two Okanagan authors.

Writing Workshop hosted by local writer Natalie Appleton. Participants will read excerpts from Dania Tomlinson's and Shelley Wood's novels and explore how their writing techniques can be used to enliven our own stories.

Reading by two Okanagan authors from their novels set in the early 20th century. Dania Tomlinson's, Our Animal Hearts, is set in the Okanagan and infused with a lake monster, dark Welsh faery tales and Indigenous stories while journeying with a family forever changed. Shelley Wood's, Leap Year Gene, follows the story of Kit McKinley, a girl who ages only one year for every four amidst the eugenics craze of the time.

This Valley Voices event takes place Saturday, Feb 28 at Okanagan Regional Library Vernon branch. The writing workshop starts at 1 pm, doors open to the reading at 2 pm, and the reading begins at 2:30 pm. Admission is by donation. www.valleyvoicesokanagan.com.
