Local, national and international news can be had right here in Vernon. We have four major sources of media here: television, radio, newspapers and Internet news.
We have two local providers of news, information and entertainment when it comes to television.
CHBC has its head office in Kelowna, BC. The station carries local news as well as Global Television Network programming.
Shaw Communications Inc. provides the Greater Vernon area with broadband cable television and local programming.
We have two major radio stations that operate out of the Greater Vernon area.
Beach Radio (107.5) broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with music and up-to-the-minute news, weather and sports. You can also listen live online.
SUN FM (105.7) plays a mix of Adult Contemporary Hit Radio with Pop. The station also has news, sports and specific community information. The radio station also offers Internet listening at the Sun online.
CBC broadcasts out of Kelowna and can be heard at 106.4 FM on the radio or online
We have two major newspapers that reach the majority of the Vernon region, and two smaller, community newspapers.
The Morning Star is distributed throughout Greater Vernon and comes out on Thursdays.
Okanagan Advertiser comes out every Thursday from Armstrong, BC.
Lumby Valley Times is published weekly on Wednesdays, out of Lumby, BC.
Castanet is an Okanagan Internet news provider. Once you get to their homepage, click on News and Vernon to get news, weather and sports.
Infotel is another Internet news provider located right here in the Okanagan. This site covers Vernon, as well as Kamloops, Kelowna and Penticton.
