When you watch a cross country skier glide by with grace, it looks much like a dance. While those that are dancing have mastered the skill, skiers of all ages and abilities can put on a pair of skinny skis and enjoy the quiet of the trails on Silver Star Mountain.
Only a 20 minute drive from Vernon, 105km of trails are groomed daily between SilverStar Mountain Resort and the Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre, making it the largest groomed network of cross-country ski trails in Canada.
The terrain at both these locations is perfect for first timers and experts. Both Sovereign Lake and SilverStar offer lessons and equipment rentals. Rentals are also available at Stussi Sport.
Boasting a 7 month season, skiers can choose to finish their classic or skate ski with a cider at Cambium Cider Co, craft beer at Marten Brew Pub or one of the many quaint eateries in Downtown Vernon.
Vernon has many accommodation options for a variety of budgets and group size. Check out the hotels page to find a comfy space to rest during your ski vacation.
Make sure to mark Sovereign2SilverStar ski marathon in your calendar (April 1-2, 2023) as you won't want to miss the second year of the fun event!
