Vernon has several art and artisan galleries where you can view, and in many cases buy, the creations of our artists and artisans.
Be prepared to enjoy whatever the Vernon Public Art Gallery (VPAG) has to offer. Fabulous events, stunning exhibits and family Saturdays are just part of the gallery experience. In February and October, they host Art After Dark, a soiree style party with art, food, drinks, music and hands-on art activities. In August, join them for Riot on the Roof, a celebration of alternative art and two stages of pumping live music, graffiti artists, fashion show, and more! Catch one of the 20 exhibitions they have throughout the year as well as programs for locals and visitors alike.
While in the downtown core, head over to Gallery Vertigo located at #102 - 3105 28 Avenue, in the heart of the city. Gallery Vertigo is an artist-run centre and home to the North Okanagan Artists Alternative. It houses large exhibition spaces, and is also home to five studio artists and a small reading/resource lounge. Programming includes offerings in the literary arts and musical events as well as continuing to host a regular schedule of exhibitions of visual art. Arts-related workshops, lectures and learning opportunities for all ages are provided for the North Okanagan community. You will find a rich and varied array of visual artists, writers, musicians, fine arts students, performance artists, and artisans here.
Discover our thriving cultural community and indulge in delights for your senses. The Headbones Gallery is an atypical gallery with contemporary drawings, sculpture and works on paper. Take a drive down Old Kamloops Road towards Swan Lake and experience this special piece of modern-day Vernon culture. Artist Julie Oaks designed this unique building. Call ahead and find out if they are holding one of their intimate (50 guest maximum) concerts.
Be sure to head over to the the Centre Gallery at the Vernon Community Arts Centre. They showcase members of the Arts Council of the Okanagan. Discover the artwork of both emerging and established artists of all skill levels. Themes are changed monthly and are sure to delight.
Gallery Odin is a contemporary art gallery located on beautiful Silver Star Mountain, just 22 km Northeast of Vernon. The year-round gallery proudly represents a group of Okanagan, British Columbian and Canadian artists, specializing in original art only, promoting artists in different media: oil, acrylic, mixed media paintings; sculptures; scrimshaw; ceramics; fibre and glass art. The gallery offers three special shows yearly: Winter, Summer and Silver Star Wine Festival Show.
